About Us

Built in the 17th century, Le Douet Fleury is comprised of three joined buildings, each built in a different era. Located in the center of Livarot, the birthplace of the wooden cheese box and Livarot cheese, you will find everything you need for a relaxing stay in the countryside. Within walking distance, you will find restaurants, grocery shops, boutiques and tourist attractions. The coast and beach are 53 km (50 min by car) from Deauville.

We started off with La Maison du Jardin, a vacation home, in 2022. Here, on the ground floor, you enter the kitchen and dining room. To the left of the kitchen is the separate toilet and the bathroom with bath and shower. Straight ahead, past the kitchen, is the living room with a double sofa bed (140 x 190 cm), and just beyond, the stairs lead to the bedroom upstairs. This bedroom has two beds on either side of the room: a double bed (140 x 190 cm) and a twin bed (120 x 190 cm). A folding baby cot, including linen, is also available free of charge. Your garden includes a barbecue, outdoor dining table, parasol, deckchair and garden furniture with sofa, two chairs and table. There is plenty of space for children and dogs to run around and enjoy the fresh air. A public playground and skatepark are just a minute's walk away. The garden is private and fenced, and shared only with the owners.<br>In the vacation home, breakfast or a homemade prepared dinner can be delivered for you to enjoy in the comfort of your vacation home, at a fee.

Our name comes from the little stream that winds its way through the village and past our ancient lavoir (wash house). The property dates back to the late 1600's when the half-timber farmhouse (now La Maison du Jardin guest house) and workshop outbuilding were built. Just across the stream, a field that is now a municipal campground once served as the horse pasture for travelers, accessing the field along the Impasse aux Chevaux. Remnants of blacksmithing and foundry work found in the soil, suggest the workshop may have also provided metal works related to the stabling of horses. The manor house, built in the popular style of the 1700's, with grand windows facing the street, was eventually remodeled to offer two shopfronts for local commerce. Access to the bed & breakfast is in the courtyard, taking advantage of the ancient wooden staircase, once used by the house staff. The garden is appointed with furniture for dining and relaxing, and is a shared space.

In 2025, we opened our first bed & breakfast room in the dignified manor house located in the village center. In the bed & breakfast, daily breakfast of French style petit-déjeuner is included, with guests staying multiple nights given the option a choice of other hot breakfasts for an additional price. Also in the bed & breakfast, dinner service can be requested at a fee, with all guests taking the same menu. Guests staying Sunday through Tuesday might consider our dinner service, as selection of walkable restaurants can be limited. If you book for one or two persons, you will have the main bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Three to four persons will include a second bedroom, shared bathroom.
